We compared 15 of the UK’s top easy access savings accounts.

We looked at the UK’s most popular easy access savings accounts to see which offers the best everyday value. Below, you’ll find exactly how we made the comparison, the assumptions we used, and the results.

Here’s how we ran the numbers and why Zopa’s easy access savings bonus rate came out on top, offering the best everyday value.

What we compared

We reviewed the easy access saver products of 15 major UK banks and building societies – both traditional and digital. This allowed us to make a fair, like-for-like comparison of the features that matter most to everyday savings customers.

We focused on the features that make the biggest difference to how much value you can get from your savings:

  • The interest rate (AER) on easy access saving accounts

  • Any balance limits that affect how much of your money earns that rate

We left out regular saver and fixed-term accounts, since they work differently and can’t be fairly compared to Easy Access savings. We also excluded any Easy Access accounts that are only available to customers paying for a premium bank account.

How we calculated value

To show the real impact of different savings features, we worked out the potential annual value a customer could earn from each account.

Here’s how we did it:

  • A typical Zopa customer has £8,239 in an easy access savings

  • We assumed any variable rates remain the same for the next 12 months

  • No tax is applied to interest earned (though actual tax depends on each customer’s circumstances)

  • The full balance earns the advertised rate, unless a cap applies

  • When we show total interest in our marketing, we round down the final numbers for clarity
