What is Apple Pay and how does it work?

scheduleUpdated 5 days ago

Apple Pay is a fast, secure way to pay with your Zopa card in-store, in apps and online. You can also use it on public transport when set it up as your Express Travel Card.

It’s completely free to use, and doesn’t store or share your card details. Instead, it uses a unique Device Account Number and a one-time passcode for every transaction, this helps keep your personal information protected.

You get notifications for every payment (whether it’s successful or declined) so you’re always in the know. You can also view your transactions in the Wallet app.

Unlike contactless payments, there isn’t a £100 spending cap for Apple Pay. However, the transaction limits that apply to your Zopa bank account will also apply to Apple Pay.

Once you’ve set up Apple Pay, here’s how to stay in control:

  • Make Zopa your default card:
Open the Wallet app and drag your Zopa card to the front of your wallet.

  • View recent payments:
Check your Wallet app on iPhone or Apple Watch to see Apple Pay transactions.

  • Remove or re-add your card:
If you delete your Zopa card by mistake, just open the Wallet app, tap the +, and add it again.
