What is Section 75 protection?
scheduleUpdated 4 days ago
Section 75 is a UK law that gives you extra protection when you pay with your credit card.
If you use your card to buy something that costs between £100 and £30,000, and something goes wrong, you may be able to claim your money back through your credit card provider (if the retailer isn't able to help).
At Zopa, all eligible credit card purchases are covered by Section 75, so you can shop with confidence.
What’s covered under Section 75?
You may be able to make a claim if:
You paid for some or all of a product or service that cost between £100 and £30,000 using your credit card.
The item is faulty, doesn’t arrive or the seller goes out of business.
You were misled about what you were buying.
What isn’t covered?
There are a few things Section 75 doesn’t protect you for:
Purchases made with a debit card, prepaid card or charge card.
Payments made through third parties like Alibaba, Amazon Marketplace, Clearpay, Curve, PayPal, Western Union or Klarna might not be covered. Where Section 75 doesn’t apply, these third-party services may have their own buyer protection schemes that could help you.
Delivery charges don’t count towards the £100 minimum, but you might still be able to claim them back if the main purchase is eligible.
Items bought by additional cardholders (unless it was clearly for the main cardholder).
Choosing not to use a service (like skipping a flight you booked).
Cash withdrawals, loans or balance transfers.
