Why Zopa has the UK’s most helpful banking AI
We call our AI the UK’s most helpful because it goes beyond simply answering questions or pointing you in the right direction. It can understand what you need, use information from your Zopa account and help complete everyday banking tasks for you.
To support this claim, we tested our AI against the banking assistants available from Revolut, NatWest, Lloyds and Starling in September 2026.
We assessed each one in two key areas:
Coverage – the range of banking tasks the assistant can handle, from payments and account settings to insights about your spending.
Completion – how far the assistant can take a task, whether that's providing information, pointing you somewhere else or actually taking action for you.
Our testing found that Zopa offered both broader coverage and greater task completion than the other banking assistants assessed.

Bank in the way that works for you
Our AI is designed to understand what you need without making you learn how to speak like a bank.
You can interact using text, voice or images, giving you different ways to get things done depending on what works for you. In our testing, Zopa was the only banking assistant assessed that supported all three.
That means you could say:
“Can you disable my spending for a second?”
Or upload a bill and simply say:
“Pay this.”
Our AI can understand naturally phrased requests without requiring you to use specific banking terminology or choose from predetermined categories. It can also use information from across your account and settings to help with requests such as updating your marketing preferences.
To access Zopa’s AI, you’ll need a Biscuit current account. It unlocks these features in the Zopa app.
More than just answers
Many banking assistants can answer questions or direct you to the right part of an app. Our AI can go further and help complete the task itself.
For example, if you want to request money from a friend, it can create a shareable payment link for the right amount rather than simply showing you where to find the feature.
It can also understand more natural, specific questions about your money, such as:
“I feel like I had a lot of takeaways this week, but was it worse than last week?”
And because our AI can combine its banking knowledge with information about your account, it can give you answers that are relevant to your own money rather than just providing general information.
How we compared banking AI
We directly tested banking assistants available from Zopa, Revolut, NatWest, Lloyds and Starling.
Our assessment looked at five capabilities:
| Capability | Zopa | Revolut | Natwest | Lloyds | Starling |
| Chat | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Voice | Yes | Yes | No | No | No |
| Image upload | Yes | No | No | No | No |
| Natural language understanding | High | High | Low | Low | Medium |
| Task completion within chat | High | Medium | Low | Low | Medium |
Our testing shows that Zopa goes beyond answering questions. With more ways to interact and the ability to take action on your behalf, our AI is designed to help you get more of your everyday banking done – simply by telling us what you need.
