What credit searches do you do?
Updated a week ago
When you’re applying for a credit card with us, we carry out an eligibility check first. If we can't offer you a credit card, we’ll let you know. At this point you've only had a soft credit search (which doesn't affect your credit score) and it's only taken a few minutes of your time to find out.
Once you go through to apply for the card and sign your agreements, that’s when we’ll do a hard credit search. It’s okay to have a couple of searches on your file, but too many might look like you’re hungry for more credit or you’ve previously been declined. To minimise your hard searches, make as few credit applications as possible, and only apply for credit that you’re eligible for.
