Why do I need SMS two-factor authentication to open a Fixed Term Savings account?

We care deeply about protecting your personal data here at Zopa. That's why when you open a Fixed Term Savings account with us, you'll need SMS two-factor authentication.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) keeps your account safe by adding an extra security check to the login process. This means that even if someone else has your password, they still won't be able to log in to your account.
How it works
With SMS two-factor authentication enabled, you'll need to enter the following when logging in to your Zopa account:
- Your Zopa email and password
- A one-time 6-digit security code sent to your mobile device via text message (SMS)
